| Marine pollution in the Peoples Republic of China |

New regulations on the prevention and control of marine pollution took effect in the Peoples Republic of China on 1st March. However, it is understood from the International Group of P&I Clubs that the requirement for operators of ships carrying polluting or hazardous cargoes in bulk and all vessels over 10,000gt to conclude a clean-up contract with an approved response company before entering a port in the PRC is not yet being enforced. |
