Exact solutions for steady flow over thin perforated bridge decks are
derived for constant incidence, simple parabolic camber and a general
camber shape. Three types of perforations are considered, namely
completely open slots, slots with restricted flow due to grills and
uniform closely spaced perforations. All of them give similar results
for lift and pitching moment, which can be expressed as simple functions
of the solidity ratio. These solutions are intended to be the basis on
which a study of the unsteady aerodynamic forces can be undertaken, with
the object of analysing the flutter characteristics of bridges with
perforated road decks. |
