This Booklet has been produced as part of the British Shipbuilders programme on Noise Reduction in Shipyards. The programme covers all aspects of shipbuilding both Steelwork and Outfitting.

This particular booklet relates to noise reduction methods, which may be used in the machine tool and woodworking environments. Aspects covered include methods to reduce noise at source, replacement of machinery and the use of enclosures.

Where possible the results achieved in terms of dB(A) reduction by implementing the measures are given, together with an indication of the costs involved.
